1) pull the plenum - this still results in torn up knuckles and it is difficult to torque the bolts properly. (this is how I did it last winter since I was doing valve covers, injectors, 120k, etc at the same time) 2) pull the transmission - hands down the way to go - opens up a ton of room and realistically only takes an hour or two to pull if you somewhat capable with this kind of stuff. Having an extra person around when you actually drop/stab the trans is a big help. Also gives you a chance to check your seals, which are cheap to replace if any are leaking (ie: front/rear trans seal, front trans cover, rear main seal.)
